On sunny Saturday, April 5, Jane Grace celebrated her first birthday with a French-themed party thrown by her illustrious parents, Travis and Margaret.
The festivity included macaroons, pommes frites (fries), an assortment of cheeses, mini cucumber and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, and box juices for adults and children alike. With a French playlist floating in the background, around sixty adults visited and munched while children roamed between various do-it-yourself activities including Pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey, finding treasure in a sand table, kicking gigantic blue and red balls, and fashioning small wooden puppets into Petit Napoleons.
At 11:30 the crowd assembled to sing and watch the birthday girl eat her first sweets (that her mother knows of, Travis!). The little princess wore an ecru satin party dress with a boa-lined eyelit party dunce hat, and carried and pointed a golden plastic scepter. William Travis, proud older brother, wore a searsucker shorts suit as he blew out the candle, and received from three guests a lifesized stuffed dog. Jane loves a wooden animal train pull-toy received by two guests, and Will loves a board book about tails that smells (literally, believe us) like a skunk.
